Welcome New Service Members

We would like to introduce Candice Hopkins to our team.  Candice is our new Leasing Manager.    She brings many years of customer service and apartment community experience to The Village.   We are proud to have her on our team.  Please say hello when you see her around.

Resident Referrals

We pay $100 to you for every friend you refer to our community.  A rent credit of $100 will be applied to your account when your friend signs a new lease and moves in.

                                           Bring Your Fuzzy Friends

Did you receive a new pet as a Christmas gift?  Please be sure that your animal meets our lease requirements before you actually purchase your new animal.  All animals must be approved and registered ahead of time.  No more than two animals are allowed per home.  Dogs must be at least one year of age and housebroken.  Veterinarian paperwork is required to verify shots, licensing, breed and weight requirements.  Monthly fees and deposits apply.

Emergency Preparedness

It’s not a surprise that fires and earthquakes in California are a regular occurrence.  Being prepared in advance for such a disaster can mean life or death in some cases.  Please be sure your family knows what to do during an emergency.

If the fire alarm sounds for any reason, please leave the building immediately.  Do not reenter the building until the appropriate personnel tell you that it is safe to do so.

Establish a meeting place where you can all reunite during the emergency.  The Village at Morena Vista will make the Community Lounge available to assist residents during an emergency, although we will not be able to provide medical assistance.

DO NOT expect firefighters, police or paramedics to help you. They may not be available.  News and information will be posted on the office door as it becomes available.   For information on electrical outages, call SDGE at 800-411-4373.

Find out what type of emergency plans are available at your work place or children’s’ school.  Remember, transportation may be disrupted, including access to elevators and your parking garage.  Consider taking a First Aid/CPR course.

Keep some emergency supplies at work, in your trunk, and in your home.   Consider a fire extinguisher, medications, hand tools, first aid kit and handbook, flash lights, radios, extra batteries, water for each family member for 2 weeks (1 gal/person/day) and purification tablets, canned and packaged food for you and your pets, mechanical food opener, waterproof plastic bags for waste disposal.

If an earthquake should occur and you are indoors, --STAY THERE!  Get under a desk or table and hang on to it, or move into a hallway or get against an inside wall.  STAY CLEAR of windows, fireplaces, and heavy furniture or appliances.  GET OUT of the kitchen, which is a dangerous place (things can fall on you).  DON’T run downstairs or rush outside while the building is shaking or where these is danger of falling and hurting yourself or being hit by falling glass or debris.

If you are OUTSIDE – get into the OPEN, away from buildings, power lines, chimneys, and anything that might fall on you.  If you are DRIVING – stop, but carefully.  Move your car as far out of traffic as possible.  Do NOT stop on or under a bridge or overpass or under trees, light posts, power lines, or signs.  Stay INSIDE your car until the shaking stops.  When you resume driving, watch for breaks in the pavement, fallen rocks, and bumps in the road.

DO NOT use your telephone, EXCEPT for a medical or fire emergency.  You could tie up the lines needed for emergency response.

Beautiful Patios and Balconies

An attractive community can’t exist without your cooperation, especially when it comes to maintaining neat, clean and good-looking patios and balconies.  Please keep patio, balcony walls and railings free of clothes, rugs, towels, containers, boxes, exercise equipment and debris.  We ask that your holiday decorations stay tasteful and that they come down no more than a week after the holiday.  Please give us a call if you would like to rent storage space.  Prices begin at $25 per space and access is available 24/7.

Go Green – Recycle

A new, City of San Diego Ordinance (O-2008-30) requires all businesses and residences (including apartments and condominiums) to recycle.  The Village at Morena Vista must comply with the ordinance, and wants to be environmentally responsible.  In order to do this, we set up a new recycling program for our residents.  Our goal is to reduce our trash output by 45%.   If we are successful, we may be able to reduce our trash fees.

You will find a blue recycling container at each dumpster chute.  The containers are well marked with recycling signage right above.  Larger items must be recycled in the dumpsters in the underground parking garage.

Please separate the following items at home and remove all food and liquid inside containers before disposing in the recycling bins:

§      Glass bottles & Jars

Recycle all food and beverage containers- clear and colored glass.  No need to remove labels or tops.

§      Cardboard & food Packaging

Flatten or cut boxes. Recycle cereal boxes and other clean food packaging including cake boxes, flour bags, frozen dinner boxes, paper egg cartons, paper grocery bags, shoe boxes, paper gift wrap, calendars, core tubes from paper and toilet rolls, soda/beer 12 pack carrying boxes, pizza boxes (if clean), etc.

§      Mixed Paper-

Recycle all clean and dry paper including: writing paper (all colors), computer paper, Xerox paper, “no carbon required” NCR forms, catalogs, brochures, magazines, junk mail, phone books, newspaper, post-it type notes, and shredded paper (place in a separate paper bag).

§      Cans-

Recycle aluminum cans and steel cans- including clean & dry paint cans, food product cans, empty aerosol cans, dog & cat food cans.

§      Aluminum Foil-

no food or oil attached.

§      Plastic containers-

Recycle plastic bottles, jugs and jars marked recyclable and all beverage containers labeled “CA redemption Value” or “CA Cash Refund”.

§      Food & Beverage Containers-

Milk & juice jugs, soda, water, salad dressings, cooking oils, etc.

§      Jars & Canisters-

Peanut butter jars, mayonnaise jars, aspirin bottles, 35mm film canisters, etc.

§      Cleaning Products & Detergents-

bleach, detergent, soap, shampoo, drain cleaner, etc.

§      Automotive & Yard Care Products-

EMPTY motor oil, antifreeze, plant food, herbicide containers, etc.

Do not place trash or any other items not listed above inside the recycling containers.  If a recycling dumpster is contaminated with trash, the program could be jeopardized and the complex might be charged a higher fee for the disposal of that load.

Note: Plastic grocery bags/ newspaper delivery bags should not be placed in recycle bin but can be recycled ONLY at your local grocery store.  Ask store for location of bin.

Remember, by recycling more you will not only help the local environment but the global environment. Recycling saves resources and energy, reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and creates jobs.
